Billing

Within your AWS management (payer) account, open the Billing and Cost Management service. Click Bills on the left and then choose the previous month from the Billing period: dropdown at the top right.

Scroll down to Charges by service and you'll see the most expensive services at the top of the list.

Now it's time to work through each service to identify what savings you could make. From the AWS Services menu at the top of this page, choose the most expensive service and follow the steps to start saving money.

Once you're done, make sure you follow the 'proactive' steps to stay on top of your costs before they get out of hand.

Remember to consider the total cost of ownership when selecting services on AWS. Fargate may look more expensive as a line item on your bill, but considering there is no need to manage the hosts and the effortless scaling, it often proves good value.
